Dietitian
The Dietitian is employed Tuesdays-Fridays and is available for individual or family consultations, as well as running a number of group talks, activities and rehabilitation classes plus working closely with the local schools cluster for education and consultative purposes and early intervention.
Clients do not need a referral for appointments, however at times your doctor may refer you to her for dietary advice. The Dietitian is also involved in promoting healthy eating in the local schools and kindergartens. Her service also includes regular outreach visits to the more remote areas of the region.
The dietitian also consults with the Hotel Services staff regarding healthy & nutritious diets for residents and inpatients with a varied and interesting menu.
Appointments are necessary and a small fee is applicable for onsite consultations.

Early Intervention
ORH Community Services can help with important stages and key areas in a child's development. This may include behaviour management or addressing concerns with play or speech development. Services available include Counselling, Speech Pathology and Occupational Therapy. Attending to any concerns early can often prevent problems developing over time.

Occupational Therapy
Occupational therapists assist people to overcome the challenges of illness, injury, disability, developmental delay and the ageing process.

Referrals to Occupational Therapy are not required. You may make contact yourself or a friend or relative may suggest the service to you. However, your doctor or other health professional may refer you to Occupational Therapy.
Occupational Therapy is available to people living in the Far East Gippsland region and includes those living in remote areas, supported accommodation, residential care or who have been admitted to hospital.

Physiotherapy
Physiotherapy provides treatment and rehabilitation for all muscular, skeletal, sport injuries and back pain.
The physiotherapist is available for all inpatients and as an outpatient service by appointment only on Wednesday afternoons, Thursdays and every second Friday.
Anyone can access this service and a doctor's referral is not needed, however appointments are necessary and a small fee is applicable for onsite services to outpatients.

Rehabilitation Programs
The Allied Health Assistants, Community Health Nurse, Dietitian, Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapist all cooperate in running a variety of Rehabilitation Programs designed to provide support, education and exercise regimes over a 12 week period for those whose health is at risk or who have been in hospital. The programs range from cardiac rehabilitation to chronic conditions, such as arthritis, weight loss and injury rehabilitation to name a few. This service provides a very important support role.

Speech Pathology
A speech pathologist works fulltime at Orbost Regional Health, servicing young children (up to school-age) and adults. She addresses speech and language difficulties including voice problems, stuttering and developmental delay and also assesses and manages eating, swallowing, and saliva control problems.
Parents of school-aged children requiring speech pathology services should contact the child's school principal.
Appointments can be made without the need for a Doctor's referral and a small fee is applicable for onsite consultations.
